Back when I told @practical.plant.geek that my niece was making pottery (@amato.ceramics) he showed me cool pics of terracotta containers for small epiphytic plants—especially orchids. They were tall vessels with no drainage making the porous material damp for days at a time. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and @plantmortuis reminded me that there are these terracotta wine coolers and they can do the same thing. @grows.on.trees loves to tease me about our inability to grow lots of epiphytic plants here year round, but we do grow moss and a few ferns quite well. So... I found a vessel, I strapped on a variety of native moss, and if all goes well, I may add an orchid or some other little gem to the ensemble in a few months. #epiphytes #moss #growingmoss #planterproject #allplantsallofthetime #pnwgardening #mossgardening #plantfunwithfriends #horticulturistsofinstagram #gardenproject #plantproject
