It’s been about 10 years now since I had my Ikebana blog. For nearly a year I threw together an arrangement daily no matter where I was emotionally or physically. #ayearofikebana was the name of the blog I started. Towards the end of the project I took classes and worked in Ikebana Sogetsu. My instructor Mrs Kodachi was an old friend. I had worked with her husband Prof. Kodachi as a teen, as an ESL tutor for a program he ran bringing kids over to the USA from his hometown of Itayanagi, Aomori, Japan. My hope was that the practice would help with chronic nerve pain, to help heal my heart and soul, and to calm my spirit. As I meditate now on new journeys, practices, and projects I feel whole looking back at my broken project, one corrected over time with a kind of kintsugi. If you feel the cracks in your life, the parts that feel unfinished or things that feel like wounds, fill them with beauty, with creativity, with all of that which glitters and glows. #ikebana #healing #mendingthespirit #listening #itsnotallaboutus #gardenerslives #wounded #houseplantikebana #Platycerium #spiritualpractice #groundedintheseasons
