A good friend really wants me to attend the next Garden Bloggers Fling in Madison, WI and this seemed like a fun way to do it! A few years ago I made these cookies and sold a few to friends and I was surprised by their reactions. I love this cookies and everyone else REALLY loved them too.
True story, I made a few of these out of season for the late Antonin Scalia. I was told when he saw them come out of the lunch bag he smiled and said he’d not had one in a long time. Then he spoke of eating them as a young boy at Christmas.
If you’ve never had one, these are difficult to describe other than to call them dense, complicated, large and delicious. These are very laborious cookies to make, but I love to do it. It is a traditional Sicilian cookie and it will not disappoint, just think, dates, figs, marsala, citrus, cinnamon and honey. Works for me!
If you’d like to order, please do so below and note the date. If you’d just like to donate to my registration/travel/hotel expenses, order the amount in cookies and just send me a note letting me know that you don’t need any cookies.
